Hirluin was the Lord of Pinnath Gelin and the most powerful figure residing in Gondor's westernmost regions. He was the son of Arluin and Hirgon, and married to Handiriel. During the War of the Ring, Hirluin led a force of 3000 Ithilien Rangers of Pinnath Gelin to battle the Haradrim and defend Minas Tirith from its near destruction. However, he was among those that were slain in the battle of Pelennor Fields and was given a proper burial funeral.
